Two Men, One Tent

Two men stand at the door of a small tent pitched against a wall of pine and palmetto — one of the last plates in Haas & Peale's Morris Island numbering, and one of the quietest.

The siege series ends the way sieges mostly were: not guns but waiting, two men and their canvas at the green edge of the island. Neither is named; the plate keeps them anyway.
