Morris Island
Still standing
The sand island south of Fort Sumter, and the ground of the 1863 siege. Federal troops crossed from Folly Island on 10 July 1863 and held the southern end; Battery Wagner and Battery Gregg at the northern end were evacuated on the night of 6-7 September. The island is uninhabited today and its shoreline has moved considerably.
