The printed record, reproduced in full and answered where it is wrong.

This section publishes the sources themselves — not summaries of them. Each article is given as its magazine printed it, with the damage the scanner did to it marked, and with a note beside every statement of fact that will not stand. Nothing in the text of an article has been corrected. A source that has been silently tidied is no longer a source.

The Confederate Veteran ran monthly from 1893 to 1932 and is the largest body of Confederate reminiscence ever printed. Its forty volumes were searched in full for Charleston matter; 75 articles survived the reading, running from February 1893 to December 1932. 2 more were rejected after being read, and are listed on the collection page with the reason.
