What Four Years Did to Moultrie

The Library of Congress styles it the interior of 'Confederate' Fort Moultrie, which is the right word for what the camera found — not the trim masonry work the United States built, but the thing four years of Confederate possession, Federal bombardment and hurried engineering made of it. The plate number 3065 is scratched at the corner; its neighbors in the series walk the same ground plate by plate.
