Battery
The Marsh Battery
Unconfirmed
The battery built on piles and a log grillage in the marsh between Morris and James Islands. Its 8-inch Parrott — the Swamp Angel — opened the bombardment of Charleston at 1:30 a.m. on 22 August 1863 and burst on its thirty-sixth round the next day; the position was rebuilt and firing again in 1864.
