The ceremonial flag-raising at Fort Sumter, 14 April 1865, on a stereograph.
The ceremonial raising of the Fort Sumter flag on 14 April 1865, four years to the day after the Confederate capture of the fort, as part of the celebration of Union victory.
James signed his work. The mount carries his name and his Brooklyn street address, which is why this photograph has never needed attributing at all.
