The flag-raising ceremony at Fort Sumter on 14 April 1865.

The ceremony of 14 April 1865, four years to the day after Major Anderson hauled the same flag down, photographed on a stereo glass negative. The stereo is filed in LOT 4166D.

On the attribution

“Photographer identified in 99 Historic Images of Civil War Charleston, ed. by Garry Adelman, John Richter, and Bob Zeller, Center for Civil War Photography, 2009, p. 21.” The identification is scholarly and recent; the negative does not carry his name.
