Two weeks to the convention

With the convention a fortnight away, Charleston in early December 1860 was full of visiting delegates, militia companies and newspapermen. In the harbor, Captain Foster of the engineers was quietly moving arms from the Arsenal toward the forts, and being told from Washington to stop.
