The convention comes to Charleston

The convention reassembled in Charleston, meeting in St. Andrew’s Hall on Broad Street. The city gave it an escort and a torchlight welcome. Two days later the question was put and there was not a single vote against.

An expedition under Colonel Page

Special Orders No. 277 placed a newly organized expedition under Colonel P. R. Page of the 26th Virginia, with Lieutenant Colonel Kemper commanding the artillery. Even in the quiet winter of 1863–64, Charleston kept mounting small operations into the creeks.
