Castle Pinckney

Surviving as a ruin

The small masonry fort on Shutes Folly in the inner harbor. Seized by South Carolina troops on 27 December 1860, the day after Anderson's move to Sumter, and used in the summer of 1861 to hold Federal prisoners taken at Bull Run.
