A board of officers recommended which guns on James Island should be rifled and banded for the new lines. Charleston re-bored, banded and re-mounted its old smoothbores all through the war because it could not get new ones.

The storm blew out. Colonel Olmstead reported that a rope had been sent for to stretch across the mouth of Light-House Creek so that Confederate pickets could be established on the far side. Battery Haskell fired on working parties; the 4.62-inch gun shot well, the columbiad fired wild and many of its shells did not burst.
