“All the troops in or about Charleston”

Beauregard reported to Secretary of War Walker that Governor Pickens had put every soldier in and around Charleston — state regulars, militia and volunteers alike — under his orders, and had offered to keep paying the bills so as not to embarrass the new Confederate treasury. He added that he could perceive among them no spirit of dissatisfaction.

Fifty men of the 22nd for fifty men of the 22nd

Lieutenant McKinney with fifty men of the 22nd South Carolina relieved Lieutenant Able and fifty men of the same command. No change of importance in the fleet. Captain S. H. Wilds signed the report.
