Shipping the stores off James Island
The Federal commander on James Island acknowledged the order to abandon the island, reported that he had already sent off the sick who could not march with their regiments, and had spent the day shipping stores. Two weeks after Secessionville, the campaign that was meant to take Charleston from the land side was over.
