Making gabions on Folly Island
Quiet, as usual after heavy firing. Up to this point no fascines or gabions had been used on the right, and there were few in the department; their manufacture, with sap-rollers, was begun on Folly Island by a detachment of engineers. Wicker baskets full of sand were about to become the most important item of supply on this coast.
