A state-by-state list of the officers held in the stockade on Morris Island, giving regiment, residence, and the place and date of capture. It is the most useful single document the magazine printed on the Six Hundred, and the only one that can be checked name by name.

    Listed under Alabama. The residence is almost certainly Tallassee, Alabama, not Tallahassee, Florida.

  2. “captured at Gettysburg July 4, 1863”

    Recurs through the Alabama section. Most of these officers were taken on 2 or 3 July; 4 July is the date many were gathered up from the field hospitals after Lee withdrew, and is what the parole rolls record.
