A Charleston pilot boat comes home as a prize
The USS Unadilla seized the schooner Mary Teresa off Charleston at nine in the morning, running for the port under English colors from Nassau with salt and assorted merchandise. She had been Charleston pilot boat No. 10, built at Wilmington in 1851. The blockade-running trade was largely fought with the port’s own hulls.
